More than 800 business and community leaders from around the Lower Mainland attended the Mayor of Surrey's Charity Ball at the new City Hall Plaza in the heart of Surrey, presented by Coast Capital Savings. The theme was Monte Carlo and over $100,000 was raised in support of the Surrey Firefighters' Charitable Society. The proceeds from this event fund several programs that deliver essential support to youth and the less fortunate in the Surrey community.

Donors, partners, sponsors and supporters of Canuck Place Children's Hospice came together at the Westin Bayshore Hotel for the 9th annual Gift of Time Gala, presented by Telus. Attendees raised money to support the delivery of specialized pediatric palliative care for over 450 children and families facing life-threatening illnesses across B.C.

It's not often that you get to wine and dine under the sea, but on October 18, the Vancouver Aquarium played host to 500 guests for its annual Toast to the Coast bash. The event raised $100,000 that will directly assist the aquarium's conservation, research and education programs. A quarter of the fundraising money came from the silent auction, which let guests bid on items such as overnight stays at the Fairmont Vancouver hotels and a three-night dolphin encounter in Las Vegas.

Over 400 people attended the British Columbia Chapter of the American Marketing Association's 43rd annual gala and awards at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Guests mingled at the welcome reception, which featured examples of marketing excellence at stations around the room. The dinner and presentations followed in the grand ballroom, featuring welcoming remarks from BCAMA president-elect Kerry Plowman and BCAMA director of Marketer of the Year Shafina Hajee.

More than 600 attended the 24th annual Lotus Awards at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Guests mingled in the reception hall prior to entering the ballroom for the evenings festivities. Hosts Norma Reid, CTV new weekend anchor and Tom Gierasimczuk, BCBusiness editor-in-chief took to the stage to emcee the awards. After dinner, the band BESTiE performed and got the crowd dancing.
